What fits in 75 minutes
Seventy-five minutes is a long single block, common for university classes and for deep work with a slow start:
- A seminar or a double lesson.
- An extended writing session: outline, draft and first edit.
- A long exam practice, with time to check your answers.
- A design or planning session that needs uninterrupted thinking.
Day math: three 75-minute blocks with 15-minute breaks take 4 hours 15 minutes, a demanding but realistic deep-work day.
Want breaks built in?
The closest interval method is the 52/17 timer: 52 minutes of focus, then a 17 minute break, on repeat.

About the 75 minute timer. Missing something? Write to [email protected].
Teachers timing a class period or double lesson, students practicing longer exams, and people doing deep work who find 50 minutes too short and 90 too long.
Only if you need one. If you notice focus fading, stand up for a minute and come back. For planned breaks, the 90/15 or 50/10 interval timers build them in.
